Moorespeed was originally formed to combine David Moore’s passion of racing and his engineering profession to compete in IMSA, the highest level of American road racing if not the world at one time. After a successful career in pro racing with many victories and world records, David decided to take a sabbatical and focus growing Moorespeed’s road car service and to spend more time with family and friends.
Years later in 2011, while searching for a Porsche 962 for a vintage racing client, David reached out to life long friend Price Cobb to find out if the ones he drove might be for sale. Price, retired from driving by now, was curious where Moore had been as he had not seen him at the track in years. It wasn’t too long before Cobb conveyed that he was longing to move back home to Texas especially after the announcement of Circuit of the Americas.
Inevitably, Price made the move and joined Moorespeed. Together the two took the company back into pro racing but this time to form a driver development program to help aspiring drivers not only with their driving skills but just as important the mental preparation and discipline needed to compete at the highest level of Motorsports, how to handle the press and how to manage their resources. The aspiring race car driver has a lot more on their plate than simply going fast. Racing is 85% Preparation and 15% Execution and we make sure you are fully prepared but we also teach you how to teach yourself like any good pro driver does on a daily basis.
With both Price and David’s long history with Porsche and IMSA, it only made sense for this program to compete in the IMSA Porsche GT3 Cup USA by Yokohama development race series.
