The Speedvision World Challenge GT and Touring Car Championships have announced the addition of the August 18-20 Le Grand Prix de St. Croix at the newly-renovated Circuit St. Croix in Quebec, Canada.
The event completes the 10-race schedule, and will be the only event on the 2000 docket featuring the Speedvision World Challenge Championships as the lead show.
Quebec City last hosted a race weekend at Le Circuit St. Croix in 1978, which featured the then SCCA-sanctioned Formula Atlantic Championship and a race won by Keke Rosberg. The old 1.1-mile, eight-turn circuit is under renovation, and will host the August race weekend which also features the Pro Spec Racer series, U.S. Formula Three Championship and the Canadian Corvette Touring Series.
“We’re pleased to be a part of the renewal of Le Grand Prix de St. Croix, which will be a great weekend of action for the great race fans in Quebec City,” said Mitch Wright, Speedvision World Challenge General Manager. “With Trois-Rivieres off our 2000 schedule, we wanted to have the opportunity to race in front of the Quebecois—some of the most dedicated race fans in North America. This will be an important weekend for the Speedvision World Challenge, as we’ll be able to take the headlining status and provide more exposure and excitement for our competitors.”
