David and the famous 0755 Toad Hall 911 RSR

David Moore, President, Moorespeed received his B.S. in Architectural Engineering with a minor in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Texas.

A love for sportscars found him leaving Construction Management to pursue a career in racing. However, the education and experience gained has proven invaluable in the ultra High-Tech field of Road Racing.

David began his career in the Automotive field at Norwood Ferrari as Project Engineer in the late 1980's. He gives "Uncle Bob" much credit for the experience and knowledge attained under his tutelage.

A highlight of his career occurred after leaving Norwood's to start his own shop.  Bob and David had been courting Oldsmobile during the development of the A-12 super car project.  When the project came to fruition, Bob asked David to help out.

This led to being Driver and Engineer for the Aurora Olds Aerotech, which shattered 47 International Speed Endurance Records.

The experience gained in this grueling World Record run has proven instrumental in providing an extra edge in racecar preparation.

After founding Memphis Speedwerks, where David was Team Mgr for the Exxon Superflo Porsche IMSA Team, he headed back home to Texas.  Moorespeed was "officially" formed in March of 1996.

Moore has had the privilege of working with some great drivers such as: Scott Goodyear, Hurley Haywood, Peter Kitchak, Derek Bell, Kevin Buckler, Randy Pobst, Dr. Steve Earle, David Murry, Jim Matthews, Barry Waddell, Stefan Johanson, Tommy Kendall and many more.

Thanks to friend and mentor Peter Kitchak, in 2001 David began driving again.  Now he routinely co-drives with Peter in the famous #0755 Porsche 911 RSR.  Peter & David won the Rolex Historic Endurance Season Championship in 2002.  In 2003 they teamed up again at select events.  In 2004, David is again co-driving with Kitchak. He also co-drives with Tom Linton and Dana Gribi.

After a hard day's work, you can usually catch a ride with David and friends on their mountain or road bikes and then relaxing to some live music of Austin.    Check out our friend and fellow car enthusiast Jimmie Vaughan's website.

We might not know Lance Armstrong personally, but we're very proud of our fellow Austinite and The Lance Armstrong Foundation.  Please visit Lance's site and help support the fight against cancer.  Our family like most everyone elses has been affected by cancer.  Chris & David's mother, Jody, recently became a cancer survivor herself after surgery and months of chemo and radiaton.  See how you can make a difference.

Thanks to his father, Jim Moore, David is an avid outdoorsman. David's father worked as a professional Scout Executive for nearly 40 years only recently retiring.  Check out Jim's web page Big Troutman. Today, Jim Moore works on the Fly Fishing committee for Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico.  One of the perks is great fly fishing in beautiful country.  Jim got David involved with scouting early on in life.  David attained the rank of Eagle Scout and was presented the award by J.J. "Jake" Pickle in 1977.

You can still find David doing something outdoors most every day.   He's an avid Mountain Biker and rides 3 to 4 times per week.  He also enjoys Fly Fishing, Camping, Hiking, Bow Hunting, and Golf.
